LinkedIn updates give us valuable information. In fact, there are so many updates, it’s an information tsunami. How can we sift through the tsunami to see the relevant gems?
Now we can filter updates from LinkedIn members who have chosen to make their updates visible to anyone. This means we can hone in on what’s important. We can:
- Filter the updates so you see only the ones you want
- Browse updates with content summaries and direct links to the full content
- Search for topics you’re interested in – or keywords, companies or people. And save your search and take a look later on to see updates to the updates.
If you’re going to give a sales presentation for a company, you can easily ask Signal what people in that company are commenting about, get a sense of what’s on their minds, read their profiles and be informed when you get into the room.
Here’s how it works:
Go to the Update section on your Home page. You’ll see it below the box where you can add your own update, and below the LinkedIn headline news stories.
You’ll see tabs across the screen that say, Coworkers, Connections, and More. To search your updates, click the blue box with the magnifying glass and on the left, type in a topic, industry or area of person’s name that you’re interested in. Updates for that come up for you to view. You can save that search, which makes it easier if that’s an area or person you regularly want to see.
