Ahh… this is what I’ve been waiting for! I’ve enjoyed LinkedIn’s blog so far – but this is where I think it moves from useful to compelling. Company news and feature how-to’s are great, but stories of real users really help people shift from concept to implementation.
According to their blog:
Starting this week, each Monday we will focus on a LinkedIn user who’s been effectively leveraging the power of professional networking either to advance their career or support their businesses. We start our series with Andrew Cohen, founder and CEO of Caring.com – a site he co-founded to help people care for their aging parents. The site covers everything from “handling in-home care, choosing products to help with daily living, to making the right financial and legal decisions”.
Andy’s top three uses of LinkedIn are:
- Reference checks
- Business development partnerships
- Staying in touch with former colleagues, classmates, hires, etc.
LinkedIn’s blog goes into each of these in more detail, including illustrations. They’ve also done a video interview with Andy:
