Sam, I know what you mean. I have not invested enough time into it. It just seems like there is no sheriff’s on LinkedIn. Nobody knows anyone well enough to call them out when they are a) wrong b) overly promotional c) egotistical.

I did take a couple of training sessions and have gotten into the open networking groups, a couple of local groups (like the Chamber of Commerce), and do occasionally pop on now.

I’ve got to be honest, I’ve never really bothered with LinkedIn – but after doing a bit of research, it seems that I could be pissing out on opportunities.

In interesting experiment you had back then on 2007. And to think that in this fast moving world of today that LinkedIn is still very much relevant and growing. I get LinkedIn invitations almost on a daily basis from long lost colleagues and classmates. And also find lots of prospects for my projects deep in Africa.

As well as the mobile app mentioned above for using linkedin to find a job, don’t forget the resume builder.

comoto.com is also a great resume builder and supports a linkedin import feature.

Also remember you have the option to see who views your profile (settings – change profile views to “public profile”) so you can see which companies/people are checking you out.

Just remember that you will also become visible to other people checking their profile views with this setting selected.
